Dr. Ginger Louws
Dr. Louws joined the staff of The Animal Hospital of High Park July 2007 shortly after completing her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. During her time at the university, Dr. Louws was President of the Animal Welfare Club, an organization which promotes animal welfare and organizes an annual forum bringing in speakers worldwide to help raise funds for research to benefit farm and companion animals. She was also an active volunteer at the Wild Bird Clinic, working with the resident Red-Tail Hawk named Kaila and helping to promote responsible stewardship of wildlife.
Dr. Louws has also worked at the Avian/Exotics clinic at the Ontario Veterinary College and at their Intensive Care Unit. She has a special interest in the avian species -with a goal of becoming board certified in Avian Medicine through her work here- and the care of all our companion animals.
Her hobbies include cycling, hiking, back-country camping & canoeing, theatre, and music. She is currently working towards her grade 5 piano certificate. She is owned by two cats: Drift, who was found by a client of ours in a snow drift, and Mabel, who was a stray kitten.
