Connie Jasinskas

connieConnie grew up with a wonderful blue budgie named ‘Tweetie’. Knowing instinctively that ‘size matters’, she always wanted to adopt a larger parrot, preferably, an African Grey. Connie and Nathalie Lemieux met through survivors’ dragon boating (BreastStrokes Dragon Boat Team), where the discussion of pet parrots drew them together forever as friends.

Connie became a member of the Golden Triangle Parrot Club in 2002 and has volunteered as the Master of Ceremonies for CPC since 2005 as well as at the All About Birds events at the Ontario Veterinary College. Her wonderful sense of humour has brought a lot of laughter at the conference seminars and live auctions.

She currently cleans up after her very vocal African Grey, Jackie, a flesh-eating Blue Fronted Amazon named Simba, and the large red clown of the family, Green Wing, Harry. Connie believes that adopting parrots is like living with incontinent, perpetual 3 year olds with ADHD. It will likely compromise your respiratory system, and wreck your back. However, it’s the most fun you’ll ever have as a pet-parent.

Connie also has a newly published book called Prescription Laughter:  Healing Strategies for People with Breast Cancer, Volumes, 2011.
